Psalm 25:12 “What man is he that feareth
the Lord?”
Today Chambers asks, “What are you haunted
by?” Most of the time the answer to that question is, of course, something that
happened in our past. It could be something that we have done, something we
have not done, or something that has been done to us. Can these things that we
carry forth into the present distract us from God? Do the memories of events
and decisions have so much pain or guilt attached to them that, when they
bubble up, they pull us away from the truth of who we are in Christ? Do they
hold us back from our mission for God?
Psalm 25 is a crying out from the weary heart
to the Lord. It speaks of shame, trust, hope, grace, and prosperity. Those that
put their hope in God will not be put to shame. It is also about trusting God
and asking Him to teach His ways, to relieve a troubled and lonely heart. It
asks God for protection and grace. In
verse 12, it says that those who fear the Lord will be taught and will prosper.
A lot of us fear many things, but do we really fear the Lord? Do we look upon
Him and speak of Him with reverence? Do we bow down to His almighty power? Do
we trust Him with everything always? Like the Psalmist, have we released the
things that haunt us to Him fully, and seek the peace and healing for our souls
that only God can give?
Chambers encourages us to be so haunted by
God that everything becomes an abiding conscience of Him that pushes itself to
the forefront of all. He says, “If we are haunted by God, nothing else can get
in, no cares, no tribulation, no anxieties.” If we stand firm in our
relationship with Jesus, He will put our souls at ease.
