Ask and Receive

6/8/2020
Luke 11:10 “For everyone that asketh receiveth.”

I have to confess, I am not great about asking for help. Sure, I ask my husband and son all the time, but rarely do I ask others. The three of us are very tight knit, and do not really go outside of our little family unit for any assistance. None of us, however, have trouble helping others or asking for prayer for those in need. My son and I are especially focused on others in this area. For some reason, the concept of “you do not have because you do not ask” is usually not even a factor for me, and I know it should be, especially when it comes to matters of the spirit.

Today, Chambers speaks about asking while in spiritual poverty, when you are so lost and wanting that you have no other alternative but to cry out to God. I have certainly been there, and those times have been ones that I have had my most profound growth spiritually. I have found that after the asking, I must leave room to receive what God has for me in every form with no expectation of the outcome, for He knows exactly what I need when I need it. Chambers says, “To receive means you have come into the relationship of a child of God, and now you perceive with intelligent and moral appreciation and spiritual understanding that these things come from God.”

When you ask, wait, and leave room for God to do a mighty work in your life. There is no greater or more profound blessing. His answer will transform you, body, mind, and soul. What follows is peace and a joyful and thankful heart.
