John 16:26 “At that day you shall ask in My
name.”
The Cross of Christ is the bridge between
God and Man. Jesus willingly suffered on that roughhewn tree and took on each
and every one of our sins. Through this act of divine mercy, we can now come
before God the Father without a sacrifice of bunt offerings. Jesus has made a
way for us through His fierce love and amazing grace. Whenever I pray for an
individual to yield to Jesus, I always pray that they start at the foot of the
cross. Once there, they must acknowledge what He has done for them, and then
will truly understand that Jesus died to set them free. Chambers says, “The
Cross stands for one thing only for us—a complete and entire and absolute
identification with the Lord Jesus Christ, and there is nothing in which this
identification is realized more than in prayer.”
Yes, Jesus made a way for us to communicate
with the heavenly realm through prayer. It is certainly the most profound and
powerful form of communication that there has ever been. Whenever I ask someone
in distress what I can do for them, they always ask me to pray. It is such a
humbling and beautiful request, and it is truly the most significant thing any
of us can do for another. We must be careful, however, to not get in a spiritual
“huff” as Chambers puts it. If we do not get the answer we desire, or if we
must wait on God’s perfect timing, we tend to get impatient. This is not the
true way of faith. Prayer must not only be about petition, but something
different entirely. It must be a drawing near to our Lord who loves us. Prayer
must be undertaken in Jesus name reverently and with joy, thanksgiving, and
praise. Just to be still and be in the presence of the Holy Spirit is the most
indescribable phenomenon in all the world.
