The Pause

5/2/2020
Habakkuk 2:3 “Though it tarry, wait for it.”

“Patience is not indifference; patience conveys the idea of an immensely strong rock withstanding all onslaughts.” Oswald Chambers

If there is one thing we collectively need now more than ever, it’s patience. We are all on a global pause; a holding pattern that we have never experienced before. Although some businesses have recently begun to reopen, most of us are still being called to stay at home. This goes against our humanity; the very way we were created. We crave adventure, travel, companionship, and gathering with others. Yet, we have been asked to wait and be patient until there is a treatment or vaccine for the current strain of Coronavirus. Unfortunately, many people’s patience is wearing thin.

As believers, we have a source of strength to help us continue being patient. Chambers says, “The vision of God is the source of patience, because it imparts a moral inspiration.” Amen. God is in this and every situation, and although we may not quite understand why this plague is upon us, we have an Almighty God who certainly does. We need to fully trust in Him, and wait for the vision. He tells us to, “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) We must trust in Him, even in a time of intense waiting.

For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
   it speaks of the end
   and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
   it will certainly come
   and will not delay.     Habakkuk 2:3
