Luke 19:42 “If thou hadst known…in this thy
day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.”
Luke 19:28-44 tells of Jesus’ entry into
Jerusalem. Even though the people cheered Him, they did not yet understand that
He was the one that would bring peace to their souls. Jesus said that the Giver
of Peace was “hidden from their eyes.”
Chambers asks, “What is it that blinds me
in this my day?” I think the answer right now for most people would be fear. It
is fear that is stealing our peace and our focus away from the mighty power of
our Savior. Chambers calls our disposition a monster that often rules us. If my
disposition is fear of the unknown, then I am making my God too small. I am
giving myself over to the monster. I need to work on yielding this disposition
of fear to Him, and faithfully move into the disposition of faith and prayer. I
need to let others see the hope that I have found in my relationship with
Jesus. There is no day but today, so make today count. Reach out to others, and
help them find the peace that can only come from God.
Philippians 4:6&7 “Do not be anxious
about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
For such a time as this.
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people, who are called by My name, will
humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their
land.”
May God have mercy on us all
