Acts 9:17 “The Lord…hath sent me, that thou
mightiest receive thy sight”
In Acts chapter 9, Paul – who in this part
of the Bible is referred to as “Saul” – received his spiritual sight. In Acts
9:18, it says the scales fell from his eyes, and he was never the same again. I
love that imagery. I often pray for the scales to fall from the eyes of some of
the people I hold most dear, for them to be able to truly see Jesus. I am certainly
grateful that the scales fell away from my own by God mercy.
Paul was chosen to proclaim the name of
Jesus and His saving grace. Aren’t we all called to do the same? Chambers says,
“When Paul received his sight, he received spiritually an insight into the
Person of Jesus Christ, and the whole of his subsequent life and preaching was
nothing but Jesus Christ—‘I determined not, to know anyone among you save Jesus
Chris, and Him crucified.’ No attraction was ever allowed to hold the mind and
the soul of Paul save the face of Jesus Christ.” What would happen if we
collectively turned our focus on Jesus, and started proclaiming His name with
boldness and love? Doesn’t this time in our world call for the people of God to
be deployed spiritually? Isn’t it time for proclamation, for spiritual warriors
to rise up? If not now, then when?
For such a time as this.
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people, who are
called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn
from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their
sins and will heal their land.”
May God have mercy on us all
