Holiness

9/1/2020

1 Peter 1:16 “Ye shall be holy; for I am holy.”

Today the theme is once again being rightly related to God. Chambers often carries topics over a few days to really drive his point home. The verse talks of holiness. He writes, “God has one destined end for man, viz., holiness.” What does it mean to be holy? Some synonyms for holy are: consecrated, sanctified, devout, virtuous, saintly, and faithful. Can I claim all, or even any, of these things through my relationship with Jesus? God wants me to be totally focused on Him through His Word, prayer, and seeking His will. Chambers writes, “Holiness means unsullied walking with the feet, unsullied talking with the tongue, unsullied thinking with the mind—every detail of the life under the scrutiny of God.” Am I so recklessly abandoned to God that every part of my life, body, mind, and soul could pass His examination? I am very far from this, but with God’s love and grace, through surrendering and releasing all to Him, I can reach toward holiness.

I am, as always, a work in progress.
