Psalm 94:18-19 "When I said 'My foot is slipping,' your love, Oh Lord, supported me. When my anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul."
Prayer is an integral part of any faith journey, and it is critical in times of deep despair, anxiety, fear, and sorrow. During these times, we may not feel as if anyone is there for us or can possibly understand what we are going though, but Jesus is ALWAYS there, listening and carrying us through. Even during times when all we have is the unutterable prayer, He knows and is there.
Philippians chapter 4 is my go-to when I am struggling. Recently, I have started turning to the Psalm above as well, because it reminds me that God has always been there to help me through everything that has happened in my life. It reminds me that after the storm, the sun always appears, and brings with it joy.
Again, I encourage you to read and meditate on the following verses. This world will bring heartache, but we need not suffer alone. Whether we cry out to our Savior loudly, or whisper a prayer through tears, Jesus will always be there to hear our prayer and deliver us. Even if the answer is not what we had hoped for, He will calm our souls and bring peace.
Psalm 138:3 "On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased"
Romans 8:26 "Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words."
Psalm 34:4 "I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears."
James 5;13 "Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray."
Psalm 145:18-19 "The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them."
Hebrews 4:16 "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and you minds in Christ Jesus."
PHILLIPPIANS 4:6 - love that one. I actually love all of them and I am thinking of sharing your blog with my students some time during Lent. Why not get some new followers??
ReplyDeleteLOVE YOU
In the bible you gave me a few years ago, Phillippians 4:6 was marked as a reference. Thank you Lehann. It remains my most read passage and reminder!
