Mark 9:22 “If Thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us and help us.”
Life, especially this year, is not a constant mountaintop experience. As a whole, people are weary; I know I am. Yet, there is also hope for the believer, because we know God is in control of all things. God can do anything and everything, and so we ask for His compassion and help.
In this passage of scripture, Jesus heals a possessed boy. The father of the boy asked Jesus, if He can, to take pity on them and drive out the evil spirit. In verse 23 Jesus says, “Everything is possible for him who believes.” Certainly, this started out as dire time in the valley, but it ended on the mountaintop. We are not always in a place of trial, but instead a place of slogging through our days. That has never been truer for most of us than it is now. Chambers writes, “The height of the mountain top is measured by the drab drudgery of the valley; but it is in the valley that we have to live for the glory of God.” During these strange and uncertain times where sameness seems to rule the day He is getting us through, but am I living for the glory of God and sharing the Good News with others?
Today, I watched a powerful video made by a young woman I know through social media. She recently completed Boot Camp for the Navy. Her video boldly proclaims how God helped her get through the entire demanding and arduous process. He sent her not only signs but also miracles. God heard her prayers and the cry of her heart through the entire experience, and she persevered, succeeding with, as she put it, “flying colors!” God was there with her in the days of both drudgery and trial. She prayed, held onto her faith, and lifted her situation to Him, and He sent blessings. Amazing grace! Now this young woman not only has a career, but also a powerful testimony that she is boldly sharing with others. Isn’t that what we are all called to do, let people know about the love, grace, and mercy of God? Thank you, Alyssa, for sharing your story so bravely and eloquently. To God be the glory!
Here is the link to Alyssa’s testimony. Watch it and be blessed.
