Luke 11:19 “Seek, and ye shall find.”
“The more you realize yourself the less
will you seek God.” ~ Oswald Chambers
The more internalized and self-interested I
am, the more out of balance I become. This is true on many levels, but
particularly in my relationship with God. I need to always be in seeking mode
for God’s will and way, for as soon as I rely on my own, it doesn’t go too
well. Chambers writes, “Experience is a gateway, not an end.” Yielding to the
initial call of Jesus is only the very beginning of the journey. The longer I
walk with Him, the deeper my relationship should grow. Isn’t this true of all
active and healthy relationships? If I only take that first step without
growth, will I truly be able to be a reflection of Him? The more I seek God
through His word and prayer, the more chance I have of sharing the truth of the
Good News that is transformative for every person who believes. Chambers
writes, “You can never give another person that which you have found, but you
can make him/her homesick for what you have.” Amen and Amen! The most profoundly
important thing for me in this life is to live this verse out every day, “May
the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight,
Oh Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” (Psalm 19:44) Out of the meditation of my
heart, so goes my actions towards others.
