1 Peter 4:17 “For the time is come that
judgment must begin at the house of God.”
“The Spirit of God locates each one to
Himself.” ~ Oswald Chambers
There are people in my life that struggle having
a true relationship with God. I would say most of them believe there is a God,
but not in the same way that an evangelical believer does. We believe in a
personal relationship with God, that the shed blood of Christ on the cross is
the atonement for sin. It is a gift freely given by our Savior, to bridge the endless
cavern of transgressions between all of humanity and their Creator. We accept
that the entirety of the Bible is inspired by God, and is a blueprint for life.
Believing all of this, every bit, is an act of faith.
I pray for these dear souls on their
journeys, but often feel like I am an ill-equipped and weak witness for God. The
truth is, just as Chambers says, that God is the one who brings each of us to
Him. My job is to be obedient, faithful, prayerful, and to have my life reflect
the light of Jesus love. It is my duty to share the good news of God’s word and
live my life by it, and to not wavier in proclaiming its truth. I must both be
filled to overflowing and also get out of the way. It can be a tricky dance
when you love someone, and want them to know the peace and strength that is
found in Jesus.
Chambers says, “Every element of
self-reliance must be slain by the power of God. Complete weakness and dependence
will always be the occasion for the Spirit of God to manifest His power.
