The Gift

4/6/2020
1 Peter 2:24 “Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree.”

This verse is so powerful, and it humbles me to my core. In my experience, crucifixion is not something that we, as Evangelicals, focus on often. Our Catholic brothers and sisters are much more apt to do so. On my last birthday, my sister-in-law and brother gave me a cross with the risen Christ on it. I burst into tears as soon as I opened it, for it blended my upbringing with my ongoing faith journey. I will never forget that moment and how much it meant to me. The truth of Jesus’ sacrifice and His resurrection into glory are the most important and powerful acts of sacrifice and love that have ever occurred in the history of creation. He did it for all of mankind. In Him we find our hope, and a debt that can never be repaid.

Chambers says, “The Cross was a superb triumph in which the foundations of hell were shaken. There is nothing more certain in Time or Eternity than what Jesus Christ did on the cross. He switched the whole of the human race back into a right relationship with God.”

In this time of uncertainly, there is one truth that is steadfast and eternal: the love and saving grace of Jesus. Turn to Him, repent of your sins, and He will give you mercy and peace. You are loved!

For such a time as this.

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”

May God have mercy on us all
